James and PBA Hall of Fame partner Jason Couch (pictured left, r-l) defeated CP3 and his partner, Chris Barnes, in the title match of the inaugural event. In addition to Paul and James, other NBA stars who appeared in the inaugural event were Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant and Rudy Gay.

    PBA Regional Facebook pages revamped

PBARegionalBreakdown.jpgBowlers and fans within each of the PBA's seven U.S. regions are invited to "follow" competition in their respective areas by visiting newly-revised home pages for each region on Facebook.

To find the home page for each region, search for PBA East Region (or South, Central, Midwest Southwest, West or Northwest), and hit the "like" button. A PBA Japan Region page will be added soon.

The PBA regional pages on Facebook will include information about upcoming tournaments, along with results and photos of tournaments as they are completed, and other news of interest to regional players and fans.

All PBA followers on Facebook also are encourage to "share" PBA pages with their own groups of friends and family.

PBA family welcomes two new arrivals

Emmett arrived about two months early, weighed in at 2 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 15 inches long. Despite his premature arrival and associated health concerns, father Chris reports the couple's first child is progressing nicely.

On June 6 at 7:46 a.m., Dan (right) and Kristy MacLelland of Kitchener, Ontario, welcomed their first-born, Harper Lynn MacLelland. Harper weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

PBA Regional Update: Norton, Staton, Parkin win in California tripleheader

Scott Norton of Mission Viejo, Calif.; amateur Joe Staton of Alta Loma, Calif., and Missy Parkin of Laguna Hills, Calif., were victorious in a PBA West Region tripleheader sponsored by Parkin's Bowling Supply at Bowlium Lanes Sunday.

Norton posted a 10-2 match play record and a 20-game total of 4,925 pins, including match play bonus pins, to win Sunday's PBA Parkin's Bowling Supply Open, a standard PBA West Regional event, by 215 pins over Eddie Van Daniker Jr. of Chatsworth, Calif.

Staton won the PBA50 portion of the tripleheader with a 10-2 match play record and 4,809 total pins, beating Timothy Banks of Hanscom AFB by 327 pins for the $1,500 first prize. Because he's not a member, Staton does not get credit for a PBA title.

Parkin, the first woman to join the PBA and the only woman to win three standard PBA Regional titles, made history again, winning the first Professional Women's Bowling Association Regional, an event conducted by the PBA.

Parkin had a 7-1 match play record and knocked down 3,749 total pins for her 16 games to top Clara Guerrero of Pflugerville, Texas, for the win and a $1,200 prize. Guerrero had 3,460 pins.

2015PBAHomefieldBowlOpenPatrickAllen.jpgPatrick Allen (center, with event coordinator Joette Healy, left, and host Mike Limekiller, right) of Mt. Kisco, N.Y. defeated Marshall Kent of Yakima, Wash., 257-244, to win the PBA Homefield Bowl Open presented by MOTIV at Homefield Bowl in Yonkers, N.Y., on Sunday, June 7.

After qualifying seventh in the field of 104, Allen posted an 8-4 match play record to qualify third for the stepladder finals. He then dispatched Tommy Gollick of Enola, Pa., 244-234, when Gollick left an 8 pin on his second ball of the final frame, and he defeated PWBA-Team USA member Danielle McEwan of South Point, N.Y., 244-215, to advance to the title match against Kent, the top qualifier.

Kent struck out in the 10th frame of the title match to force Allen to throw the first strike in his 10th frame, which he did to clinch his 26th career PBA regional victory and his second of the year in the East Region.

Allen, a 13-time PBA Tour champion and native of the metropolitan New York area, recently moved back "home" from Florida. He earned $3,000 for the win.

2014PBAEJTackett2.jpgEJ Tackett (left) of Huntington, Ind., defeated Rhino Page of Orlando, Fla., 237-226, to win the $2,500 first prize in the first PBA Tri City Lanes Easley South Open at Tri City Lanes in Easley, S.C., Sunday.

Tackett posted a 9-3 match play record and a 20-game pinfall total of 5,038, including match play bonus pins, to qualify first for the stepladder finals. Page earned his place in the title match by defeating Tommy Jones of Simpsonville, S.C., in the opening match and Jason Sterner of Covington, Ga., 225-188, in the semifinal round.

Jonesboro Bowling Center in Jonesboro, Ark., will be in the spotlight over the June 12-14 weekend when it hosts the added-money Jonesboro Southwest/Midwest Open presented by MOTIV, offering a projected $5,000 first prize. Elk Grove Bowl in Elk Grove Village, Ill., will host the Tony Grigat Allstate Midwest Open while competition for PBA, PBA50 and women bowlers includes the PBA and PWBA Northwest Opens along with a pair of joint PBA50 Secoma Lanes West/Northwest Open one-day, reduced entry fee events, in Federal Way, Wash.

The June 19-21 schedule includes the first PBA Tour Xtra Frame tournament of the summer season, the Pensacola South Open presented by Roto Grip, at New Liberty Lanes in Pensacola, Fla. The Pensacola event will offer a projected $10,000 first prize and will award a PBA Tour title. It will be covered live from start to finish on PBA's Xtra Frame online bowling channel.

Also on the weekend schedule are a pair of one-day American Family Insurance Midwest Open events presented by Columbia 300 at Tinley Bowl in Tinley Park, Ill.; the Planet Bowl Southwest Challenge for non-title winners in Oklahoma City; the Fort Meade East Challenge presented by Roto Grip for non-winners at The Lanes in Fort Meade, Md.; the J.D. Producing Inc./Triway Lanes Central Open presented by Hammer in Wooster, Ohio, and a PBA/PBA50 doubleheader, the Vanessa Brown Homes West Opens presented by Columbia 300 at Yosemite Lanes in Modesto, Calif.

Over the June 26-27 weekend, South Plains Lanes in Lubbock, Texas, will host the second PBA Tour Xtra Frame event, the Xtra Frame Lubbock Sports Southwest Open presented by Storm with $15,000 going to the winner. Also on the weekend schedule, Pro Bowl West in Ft. Wayne, Ind., will host the PWBA Central Open along with a one-day, reduced entry fee Central/Midwest Challenge.
