U.S. boys, Colombian girls claim gold in Doubles in Under-21 division

    Venezuelan boys and Colombian girls win the titles in the Under-16 division

    2015PABCONYouthLogo.jpg Boys teams from the United States and Venezuela and two girls teams from Colombia shared the gold medal in Doubles on the second day of competition at the 2015 PABCON Under-21 and Under16 Youth Championships currently underway at Bolera Sede in Panamá City, Panamá.

    2015PABCONYouthMichaelTangKamronDoyle.jpgBoys U21 Singles champion Kamron Doyle teamed with Michael Tang (pictured right, r-l) to win his second gold medal of the championships for Junior Team USA with 2719 total and an average of 226.58.

    Tang led the way with the field-best 1429 series, an average of 238.17, and Doyle added 1290. Tang overtook Doyle by eight pins to take the lead in All-Events after 12 of 24 games with 2809 total and an overall average of 234.08. Doyle is second on 2801, with team mate Wesley Low Jr. in third with 2737.

    2015PABCONYouthGregYoungWesleyLow.jpgLow and his partner Greg Young Jr. (left, l-r) were just 18 pins behind Tang/Doyle to earn the silver medal with 2701 and were followed by Josh Brant-Parkin and Sean Coutts of Canada, who were further 18 pins behind in third place to take the bronze medal with 2683.

    In the Boys U16 division, Singles silver and bronze medalists Gianmarco Gaglione and Rodolfo Monacelli Jr. of Venezuela joined forces to capture the gold medal with 1879 10-game total and an average of 187.90.

    Costa Rica's Thomas Stanley and Mathias Haehner were just 15 pins behind in second place to earn silver with 1862. Juan Guillermo Londoño and Singles champion Felipe Gil secured the bronze medal with 1844.

    With 10 of 21 games in All-Events in the books, Monacelli overtook the lead with 2105 total (210.50 average). Gil slipped to second place with 2072 and is followed by Gaglione with 2028.

    Colombia's Juliana Franco and Laura Plazas averaged 211.25 to win the gold medal in the Girls U21 Doubles with 2535 total. Canadians Mykaela Mitchel, who had the highest individual series with 1340 (223.33) and Leigha Carnevale finished with games of 475 and 446 to land in second place with 2516.

    2015PABCONYouthStephanieSchwartzBreannaClemmer.jpgThe bronze medal went to Breanna Clemmer and Stephanie Schwartz (right, r-l), United States, who toppled 2410 to beat out their team mates Sydney Brummett and Singles champion Gazmine Mason (2373) for the bronze medal by 37 pins.

    Plazas, who totaled 2536 (211.33) in Singles and Doubles to hold a 26-pin lead in All-Events over Puerto Rico's Kristie López in second place on 2510 with Clemmer in third position on 2484.

    U16 girls Singles champion Laura Garcia teamed with Ana Sofia Olaya to win her second gold medal of the championships with 1823 or an average of 182.30. Taishaye Naranjo, who had the highest individual series with 982, and Paulina Torres of Puerto Rico took the silver medal with 1784.

    Adriana Parrilla and Cristina Acosta Ortiz won the first medal for the host country Panama by finishing third with 1695.

    Competition commences Tuesday with the U16 Mixed Doubles and the U21 Trios events.

    2015PABCONYouthLogo_small.jpg The 2015 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships, which runs from June 27 through July 3 and takes place at Bolera Sede in Panama City, drew 139 youth bowlers from 16 countries, 103 (62 boys and 41 girls) in the Under-21 division and 36 (22 boys and 14 girls) in the Under-16 division.

    Players will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All-Events and match-play Masters.
