It was the second win on the 2015 Tour for Morra and the first for Rolland.

The 2015 Italian Senior Open attracted an entry list of 88 men and 21 women. The format for the tournament was two six game qualifying blocks, with re-entries allowing the lowest block to be replaced.

For those not able to qualify through the main leaderboard, there were additional opportunities through Turbo games and Early Bird qualification.

Age bonus started at age 51 (1 pin per game), then increased a pin for every additional year of age with no limit. As with all ISBT events, there was a separate division for ladies.

After the 20 qualifying squads had completed, Desimo Giorgio of Italy was the top male qualifier ahead of Rolland and Maurizio Celli of Italy. In the women's section, Morra, who won the season-opening 4th Plaza Senior Open, had a clear lead followed by two Germans, Gisela Insinger and Martina Beckel.

Rolland finished with a clear lead of over 100 pins to become champion, ahead of Loris Masetti of Italy and Robert Vallons of Belgium. The women also played an eight-player round robin, with Morra stealing the victory by just 3 pins from Beckel, with Beate Albert of Germany in third place.
