Osku Palermaa named July IBMA Bowler of the Month

Two-handed star Osku Palermaa of Finland (pictured with women's division winner Joey Yeo, Singapore) has been selected as the July 2015 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media Association.
Palermaa defeated Isao Yamamoto of Japan, 248-224, for the Bowling World Open men's division title. In addition to the 10 million Yen top prize (approx. $81,814), Palermaa, who owns 13 European Bowling Tour titles, earned his fifth PBA title.
After qualifying in ninth place with a 225 average, Palermaa averaged 241 in the semifinal round to claim the second seed for television arena finals at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan, on July 12th.
The reigning World Team Champion started the bracketed semifinals with a win over third-seeded Bill O'Neill, Langhorne, Pennsylvania, 266-255. Yamamoto took down top-seeded Dom Barrett, England, 256-224, in the second semifinal, setting up the title match.
With the victory in the World Bowling Tour "major", Palermaa, moved from sixth to fourth place on the WBT Men's point ranking list. This is Palermaa's third IBMA Bowler of the Month award, his first since August 2014.
Others obtaining votes this month were Dom Barrett, winner of the European Bowling Tour 11th Storm San Marino Open, Joey Yeo of Singapore, winner of the Bowling World Open women's division, Elysia Current, winner of the PWBA Storm Sacramento Open, and Stefanie Johnson, winner of the PWBA Wichita Open.
