Thomas Larsen, Francois Louw add their names to the leaderboard at Vienna Open

    Larsen (DEN) rolls 1453, including the third 300 game this week, and Louw (RSA) totals 1445 to move into third and fourth place in Squad 9; Joonas Jähi continues to lead the 185-player field with 1473; No. 52 score to beat to advance is now 1243 (207.17 average)

    Larsen, a four-time European Bowling Tour champion who also owns two PBA titles (Abu Dhabi and Kuwait), averaged 242.17 for six games to lead the squad with 1453. The 2014 EBT point ranking leader started his series followed a 258 opening game with the tournament's third 300 game and added 266 for 824 after three games, an average of 274.67.

Joonas Jähi (left) of Finland continues to lead the field of 185 players, 148 men and 37 women, from 16 countries with 1473, including a 300 game, and an average of 245.50. Michael Loos (right) of Austria remained in second place with 1463.

    Louw also had a shot at the lead heading into the final game. Louw, who started with games of 257, 235, 279, 249 and 236 (1256; 251.20 ave.), finished with a low game of 189 to fall behind Larsen and to settle for fourth place overall with 1445 (240.83).

    2015EBT14StuartWilliams.jpg2015EBT14JennyWegner.jpgOpposite to the first eight squads, the leader of squads 9-16 do not earn an automatic berth into Sunday's finals but must qualify in the top 52 to make the cut. The top eight players will receive a first-round bye.

    PBA champions Stuart Williams (left), England, and Tommy Jones, United States, sit in fifth and sixth place with 1419 and 1416, respectively. 2009 Vienna Open champion Thomas Gross is seventh with 1412.

    Rounding out the top 8 is Jenny Wegner (right) of Sweden, who is the best woman in the field with 1401 total including handicap. Wegner posted the second 300 game by a woman in the 13-year history of the Vienna Open.

    With 9 of 16 squads in the books, Elliot Crosby of England holds the 52nd and last spot to qualify directly to the finals with 1243 and an average of 207.17.

    Thomas Larsen and fellow Danish national team member Jesper Agerbo (pictured above) teamed in Squad 9 to leap into second place with 2720. Agerbo contributed 1267.

    Jenny Wegner and Irish two-handed player Christopher Sloan and Thomas and Ivonne Gross are tied for third place at 2709. The top 20 Doubles at the end of the qualifying will cash.

    Qualifying commences on Friday, October 2, with Squads 10-12 scheduled to start at 1, 5 and 9 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    2015ViennaOpenLogo_small.jpg The 13th Columbia 300 Vienna Open is the 14th tournament on the 2015 European Bowling Tour and the last of just three EBT "gold" events this season, the second-highest of the four EBT tournament categories.

    The VO 2015 will be held from Sept. 28 - Oct. 4 at Plus Bowling, a 32-laner in Vienna, Austria. Players will compete for total prize fund of 73.130 Euro - 62.900 € in Singles and 10.230 € in Doubles.

    BowlingdigitalBanner.gif For the 13th consecutive year, Bowlingdigital.com will provide onsite coverage of the 13th Columbia 300 Vienna Open commencing Thursday, Oct. 1, all the way through to the stepladder finals on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 4. All qualifying squads on Oct. 2 & 3 and Sunday's finals are being broadcast live on Bowlingdigital's YouTube channel.

    The singles champion will take home the 7.000 € top prize, the first runner-up earns 5.000 € and the third and fourth-place finishers get 3.500 € and 2.500 €, respectively. 64 players will cash in Singles, which has a last-to-cash payout of €. The Doubles tournament will pay a 1.600 € first prize and a 20-place prize list (300 € last-to-cash).

    2015EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 16 tournaments in 12 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and seven "Satellite" events. All 16 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 850.000 Euro.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.
