Francois Louw starts final day of qualifying at Vienna Open with 1458 series

Francois Louw (pictured left) of South Africa averaged 243 in the first squad on Saturday morning (13th overall) to leap into third place in the qualifying of the 13th Columbia 300 Vienna Open and to take the lead in Doubles together with Thomas Gross (above left) of Austria.
Starting the day in fourth place with 1445, Louw came out of the gates commandingly posting games of 258, 268, 245 and 255 before he closed out with modest 207 and 225 to leap one spot with 1458 total.
Qualifying in Vienna is traditionally contested as a Doubles tournament. Vienna Open tournament director Gross, a four-time European Bowling Tour titlist which includes a victory in the Vienna Open in 2009, added 1364 to propel the duo to the top of the leaderboard with 2822 total and an average of 235.17.
Previous leaders Stuart Williams and Dom Barrett (right, r-l) of England slipped to second place with 2809. Third place belongs to Martin Larsen of Sweden and Finland's Osku Palermaa with 2789. The top 20 Doubles at the end of the qualifying will cash.

Jeroen van Geel, Netherlands, who won his first EBT title this season in the Odense International in Denmark, currently holds the 52nd and last spot to advance to Sunday's finals with 1293 or an average of 215.50.

The singles champion will take home the 7.000 € top prize, the first runner-up earns 5.000 € and the third and fourth-place finishers get 3.500 € and 2.500 €, respectively. 64 players will cash in Singles, which has a last-to-cash payout of €. The Doubles tournament will pay a 1.600 € first prize and a 20-place prize list (300 € last-to-cash).

The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 16 tournaments in 12 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and seven "Satellite" events. All 16 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 850.000 Euro.
The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.
