Pasi Uotila averages more than 240 to adds his name to the leaderboard in Vienna

    Finn shoots 1353 series to take fifth place in Singles and fourth place in Doubles with qualifying leader Joonas Jähi; John Wells (ENG) rolls the fifth perfecto of the tournament, but sits just two pins above the cut line (1302; 217.00)

    2015EBT14PasiUotila2.jpgAlthough Squad 14 was delayed by half an hour due to a server shutdown which at affected the tournament computer system at the 13th Columbia 300 Vienna Open, Pasi Uotila (pictured left) of Finland averaged 240.83 for six games to jump into fifth place in the qualifying standings with 1445.

    The three-time Ballmaster Open winner (2000, '04 & '09), who is eagerly waiting for his first victory in Vienna, rolled games of 237, 223, 255, 215 and 236 before he closed out the set just four hours after the practice shots with a huge 279.

    2015EBT14ThomasGrossFrancoisLouw.jpgQualifying in Vienna is traditionally contested as a Doubles tournament. Uotila teamed with his fellow countryman and tournament leader, Joonas Jähi (pictured above), who added 1338 to help grab fourth place in Doubles with 2783 and an average of 231.92.

    2015EBT14ChrisSloanJennyWegner.jpgJähi leads the 261-player field from 25 countries since Squad 7 with 1473 and an average of 245.50. Thomas Gross of Austria and Francois Louw of South Africa (right, l-r) took the lead in the Saturday morning squad #13 with 2822 (235.17).

    Christopher Sloan (pictured left with Jenny Wegner of Sweden), a two-handed player from Ireland, was next to Uotila with 1394, including high games of 257 and a pair of 254 games, to move into 14th place.

    2015EBT14PascalWinternheimerTobiasBording2.jpgGerman national team members Pascal Winternheimer and Tobias Börding (right, l-r) were just 39 pins behind Uotila & Jähi with 2744 (228.67) to leap into seventh place in Doubles. Winternheimer had 1385 to leap into 20th place and Börding moved in 24th place with 1359.

    2015EBT14JohnWells.jpgJohn Wells (left) of England sandwiched the tournament's fifth 300 game between three games under 200 (199, 185 and 166) before he finished with back-to-back 227 to sit in 49th place with 1304, just two pins above the cut line which is 1302 (217 average) set by two-handed player Marcus Bergendorff of Denmark.

    Qualifying commences on Saturday, October 3, with Squads 15 & 16 scheduled to start at 4 and 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST) and concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m.

    2015ViennaOpenLogo_small.jpg The 13th Columbia 300 Vienna Open is the 14th tournament on the 2015 European Bowling Tour and the last of just three EBT "gold" events this season, the second-highest of the four EBT tournament categories.

    The VO 2015 will be held from Sept. 28 - Oct. 4 at Plus Bowling, a 32-laner in Vienna, Austria. Players will compete for total prize fund of 73.130 Euro - 62.900 € in Singles and 10.230 € in Doubles.

    BowlingdigitalBanner.gif For the 13th consecutive year, Bowlingdigital.com will provide onsite coverage of the 13th Columbia 300 Vienna Open commencing Thursday, Oct. 1, all the way through to the stepladder finals on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 4. All qualifying squads on Oct. 2 & 3 and Sunday's finals are being broadcast live on Bowlingdigital's YouTube channel.

    The singles champion will take home the 7.000 € top prize, the first runner-up earns 5.000 € and the third and fourth-place finishers get 3.500 € and 2.500 €, respectively. 64 players will cash in Singles, which has a last-to-cash payout of €. The Doubles tournament will pay a 1.600 € first prize and a 20-place prize list (300 € last-to-cash).

    2015EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 16 tournaments in 12 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and seven "Satellite" events. All 16 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 850.000 Euro.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.
