Chavez and Marcano to represent the host country in Bowling World Cup

Eduardo Marchandet, President of the Venezuelan Bowling Federation, has informed us that Reynier Chavez and Karen Marcano will represent the host country of Venezuela in the 2006 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup.

The 42nd edition of the prestigious event will take place at the Mampote Bowling Center in Caracas, from November 4-10, 2006.

54 men and 30 women qualified for the Copa Venezuela, which was played in the same format as the Bowling World Cup. In the best-of-three games men's title, Chavez denied Arturo Hernandez' bid for his fourth consecutive BWC appearance.

In a high-scoring affair, Chavez took a 1-0 lead with a 259-235 victory in game #1. Hernandez rebounded with a 268-266 win in game #2 to level the match. Chavez won the decider 243-224 to book his spot in the World Cup for the first time in his career.

Also making her first Bowling World Cup appearance is Karen Marcano, who faced her older sister Alicia in the women's final. Karen easily won the first game, 265-223 and cruised to the title with a 202-179 in game #2.

Both champions and runner-ups earned a spot on the Venezuelan National Team for the South American Games after World Cup. They will be joined by Eddy Fuentes, Jose Ferreira, Mariela Alarza and Patricia Ciotti.
