Cundy and Glover start English ranking season with victory in Burton

    English internationals Darren Cundy and Zara Glover won the men's and women's titles in the Burton Open Singles, the first event of the 2007 Brunswick Team England ranking season.

    2007BTE01Top3Men.jpg Cundy (center) overcame a 64-pin lead that youngster Adam Scott (left) had in the final game to snatch victory. Cundy finished round robin match play with a 238-game and earned 30 bonus for 4564 while Scott closed out with a 188 and no bonus for 4568. Jon Zadel (right), who led the field after Round 1 (six games) and Round 2 (10 games) ended up in third place with 4421.

    Glover (front) led the women's field from the first round, outaveraging her nearest competitor Nicki Ainge (center) by more than 10 pins.

    She won four of her five matches in round robin to finish with 3355 pinfall total and an average of 214.33. Ainge was next with 3177. Third place belonged to Fiona Banks (back), 3036.
