2007USBCOCKevinLock.jpg Kevin Lock of Minoa, N.Y., is an avid bowler and a six-time participant at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships and couldn't have picked a better site than the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., for his first career 300 game.

The 52-year-old right-hander put together 12 consecutive strikes in his final game of doubles Tuesday for the sixth perfect game of this year's USBC Open Championships. The effort came after games of 154 and 178 and capped off a 632 series, the first 600 series of his tournament career.

"I was extremely nervous and at the same time lucky," said Lock, a custodial supervisor for the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District. "The one thing I didn't want to do on the last shot was leave three pins because I wanted more than 297. The eleventh ball rolled off my hand, but turned out to be one of my better shots. The last one hit pretty well, but I thought I might end up leaving the eight or nine pin. I'm not a power bowler so I depend more on finesse."

Although Lock didn't break 190 in his other eight games, nothing could've taken away from the excitement of rolling a perfect game on bowling's grandest stage. He added 526 in team and 506 in singles for a 1,664 all-events total.

"Still, under the circumstances, I'm not going to complain," Lock said. "This definitely has been the high point in my Open Championships competition."
