2007USBCOCMikeKeller.jpg Mike Keller of Grand Ledge, Mich., is having a good year by his own admission and proved it on the lanes at the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships on Thursday.

The 26-year-old right-hander opened his singles set with 182 and 192 before putting together 12 consecutive strikes for the seventh perfect game of this year's event at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.

"I'm really having a good year so far, and I didn't do anything special to prepare for the trip to Reno," said Keller, who made his sixth consecutive Open Championships appearance. "It's always great to bowl 300, but this one is special because it's my first at the Open Championships. I wasn't expecting to shoot 300. I just wanted to put up some good numbers."

Keller's perfect game rounded out a 674 series and he added 662 in doubles and 518 in team for a 1,854 all-events total. Dede Davidson of Buellton, Calif., leads Regular All-Events with 2,118.

"At some point, I made up my mind to stick to the things I've been doing best and just have some fun," said Keller, a packaging engineer for KTM Industries. "I hate to admit it, but when it came down to the 10th frame, I told my friends to get the camera ready because I was confident I was going to shoot 300."
