USBC Youth Open Championships to feature Sport Bowling conditions

Youth bowlers will be given the chance to put their skills to the test under United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling lane conditions at the inaugural USBC Youth Open Championships later this year.
The USBC Youth Open Championships will be conducted in Buffalo, N.Y., starting July 13 at AMF Thruway Lanes. The event is conducted alongside the USBC Junior Gold Championships and Pepsi USBC Youth Championships.
"USBC's renewed vision is to grow the sport of bowling and this is another step in that direction," USBC Chief Officer for Tournaments and Events Roseann Kuhn said. "We've found that young bowlers want the opportunity to test their skills and the USBC Youth Open Championships will give them that chance."
The USBC Sport Bowling program consists of leagues and tournament that are conducted on challenging lane conditions. The program is an opportunity for all bowlers to determine their true skills in such areas as accuracy, consistency, the ability to read lanes, and spare shooting skills to have success.
The USBC Youth Open Championships is open to all USBC Youth members. Bowlers will take part in singles, doubles and four-player team competition at the annual event, which will be held from July 13-21, 2007 (unless extended).
The tournament is broken into four average divisions (129 and below, 130-159, 160-189 and 190 and above) and will be based on actual pinfall. One out of every four entrants in team, doubles and singles will receive scholarships, while one in six will receive scholarships in all-events.
