43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup declared open in St. Petersburg

The QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup was officially declared at Continent Bowling Center in St. Petersburg, Russia. For the first time in its 43-year history, the most prestigious amateur tournament in the sport of tenpin bowling, visits Russia.
The BWC started on Saturday morning, Nov. 3, with the official practice (pictured right) which was followed by the Opening Ceremony (pictured below). The tournament runs through Saturday Nov. 10th.

84 men and 73 women representing 88 countries will participate in this year's event.
All players will bowl 24 games of qualifying (4 blocks of six games from Sunday, Nov. 4 through Wednesday, Nov. 7) to cut to the top 24 men and top 24 women.
Those 24 will bowl eight games with the qualifying pinfall being carried forward.
The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 32 games will bowl another 8-game block to cut to the top 3 for the TV stepladder finals.
