Williams/Froggatt successfully defend their title at AMF Grand Prix Doubles

    2007BTE13FroggattWilliams.jpg Defending champions Stuart Williams and Nick Froggatt did the double at AMF Macclesfield last weekend. Attracting a very solid entry of 43 doubles pairings it was a come from behind victory as top qualifiers were Damian Gray and ex-junior international Ray Teece with Rob Kendall and Dom Barrettt in second after the first round.

    This unique tournament qualifies duos from their best 4 successive team games, but then all 8 games are carried through to subsequent rounds.

    Williams/Froggatt pulled over 100 pins away from Gray/Teece after round two and led by 299 after the final round of 3 games to bag the £1.000 first prize. Jo Allsebrook and Finny Banks were third, Barrett/Kendall 4th.

    Team England ranking points were awarded for the first 8 games – Matt Miller (1904) headed Ray Teece for max points, while Banks (1756) headed partner Allsebrook by 20 pins in the ladies.
