Clash of Champions Profiles: Jenny Brown, Adam Martinez

Bowling's Clash of Champions will bring together 16 champions of USBC events and the U.S. Open ranging in age from teenagers to seniors competing for $100,000 in prize money on national television.
The event will take place May 7-8 at the USBC Convention in Kansas City, Mo., and taped for broadcast on CBS Sports May 10 from 5-6 p.m. Eastern and May 11 from 4-5 p.m. Eastern.
As the unique made-for-television event Bowling's Clash of Champions, presented by the United States Bowling Congress and Strike Ten Entertainment, gets closer, USBC is profiling each of the 16 participants in the event.
* How they qualified: Each player won their respective divisions at the 2007 USBC Junior Gold Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., in July, earning U.S. Junior Amateur titles.
* About Bowling's Clash of Champions: The Clash will bring together 16 champions of USBC events and the U.S. Open ranging in age from teenagers to seniors competing for $100,000 in prize money on national television. * About Jenny Brown: A 17-year-old from DeLand, Fla., Brown is a two-time Junior Team USA member and considered one of the best high school bowlers in Florida. She led DeLand High School to the state title in 2004, 2005 and 2007 while also winning the individual state title in 2007.
* Brown's thoughts: "I think this event will be an amazing, exciting experience for me, and it's sure to be something I will always remember. If I bring my best game, I think I will have a very good chance to be the winner."
* About Adam Martinez: A year after finishing seventh at the USBC Junior Gold Championships, Martinez, 20, of San Antonio broke through to win the U.S. Junior Amateur title. He is a two-time Greater San Antonio Bowling Association Youth Bowler of the Year and also is a two-time winner of the Texas Youth Masters championship.
* Martinez's thoughts: "I am very excited and honored to be part of this event. I am humbled to be part of this very elite group. This is a great opportunity to learn from these outstanding bowlers. It's not about winning, it's about being part of this experience."
* About the USBC Junior Gold Championships: As the country's premier event for USBC Youth members, the USBC Junior Gold Championships brings together a sold-out field each year of more than 1,700 elite bowlers competing for spots on Junior Team USA. Bowlers earn spots in the tournament by winning local qualifying events throughout the year. The 2008 USBC Junior Gold Championships will be held in Detroit from July 5-11.
