Canadian bowlers ready for QubicaAMF BWC in Mexico

Jack Guay of Calgary, Province of Alberta and Jennifer Park from Nanaimo, British Columbia won the BWC National Finals conducted by the Bowling Proprietors Association of Canada (BPAC). The National finals were held on the 48 lanes of Planet Bowl in Toronto, Province of Ontario, on March 15 and 16.

They won the right to participate in the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup to be held in Hermosillo, Mexico between the 7th and 15th of November in a new 32 AMF lane "BOL 300" to be inaugurated in early summer.
Sixteen provincial champions (8 women and 8 men who won the 6 game provincial qualifiers) took part as well as the two last year winners. After two rounds of eight games both Guay and Park earned the top stepladder positions averaging 207.3 and 189.4 respectively.
The men semi-final pitted last three years winner Michael Schmidt (right) of Tyndall, Manitoba, against second place qualifier Joe Ciach (left) of Mississauga, Ontario averaging 203.8. The 2005 QubicaAMF World Cup Champion Schmidt won easily 279-209.
In the final Schmidt won the first game against Guay 246-197 but lost closely in the second (top seed safety game) 210 to 212, opening the doors for Jack Guay's sixth attempt at the World Cup, he finished fourth in 1993, ninth in 1994 also in Hermosillo where he shot the first World Cup 300 game, fourth in 1995 where he shot another perfect game, fifth in 1998 and again fifth in Singapore 2004.
He will bring to Hermosillo a 224 league average, 30 perfect games in the book and a career high 3 game series of 842.
In the women semi-final, third qualifier Karen Collura (right), a four BWC veteran, eliminated Caroline Lagrange (left) of Montreal, Quebec 209 to 177. In the final Jennifer Park beat Collura convincingly with a 265-137 score.
Jennifer Park will bring to Hermosillo also a 224 league average, 4 perfect games in the book and a career high 3 game series of 836.
