The 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be held at Bol 300 in Hermosillo, Mexico from Nov. 7-15, 2008. 89 men and 65 women representing 91 countries are expected to participate in this year's event.

Hermosillo is a city of 800,000 and is known as 'The Sun City'. It lies in the state of Sonora in the north of Mexico just 250 kilometers from the border with the USA.

This will mark a record fifth time that the Bowling World Cup will be staged in Mexico after 1994 in Hermosillo, 1988 and 1968 in Guadalajara, and 1983 in Mexico City.

Fernando Gutierrez, owner and manager of the brand new 32-lane center, has great experience of the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup having hosted the event in 1994.

"I always knew the Bowling World Cup was a great tournament, but when we hosted it in 1994, I fell in love with it," Gutierrez said. "I dreamt then of hosting it again – and now that dream is coming true."

The 1994 event - the 30th edition – was won by Tore Torgersen of Norway for the men and Anne Jacobs of South Africa for the women. 1994 also saw the first ever perfect game bowled in the tournament when Jack Guay of Canada hit the magic 300 figure.

All players will bowl 24 games of qualifying (4 blocks of six games from Sunday, Nov. 9 through Wednesday, Nov. 12) to cut to the top 24 men and top 24 women. Those 24 will bowl eight games with the qualifying pinfall being carried forward. The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 32 games will determine the top 3 for the TV stepladder finals in round robin match play.

Bol 300, Hermosillo, Mexico, is equipped with QubicaAMF's High Performance Synthetic Lanes. QubicaAMF Century's latest lane conditioner and cleaner will be used during the tournament.

Utopia Lane Lubricant, a high tech lane lubricant that is ultra high viscosity blended with a special synthetic additive to reduce drag on the bowling ball typically experienced with other high viscosity oils. Utopia is designed for high performance under demanding conditions, while providing unsurpassed protection against particle enhanced bowling balls. It may be used in any wickless lane conditioning machine or wick lane conditioning machines equipped with oil tank heating systems.

Formula ACC, a concentrated cleaner, is designed to remove the synthetic additives in today's high performance conditioners. QubicaAMF lane products will ensure that the World Cup lane conditions will be optimal throughout the tournament.

The lane men will be using QubicaAMF's Summit-S lane machine equipped with QubicaAMF's optional oil tank heating system to clean and dress the lanes. According to QubicaAMF it is the most cost effective and reliable high volume machine in the bowling business.

The Summit-S can accurately apply more than 100 units (or 30ml) of conditioner per lane in less than 2 minutes. The Summit's new Foam Transfer Technology (F.T.T.) uses reticulated foam for more accuracy, consistency, and flow rate during temperature changes. According to QubicaAMF the Summit is the most controllable conditioning machine in terms of lengthwise taper of any machine on the market. Lane oil applied to the lane is measured zone by zone to ensure accuracy.

Below is a color graph which shows lane conditions for this year's QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Typically the lanes will be conditioned for 42 feet – although the exact distance will be determined on site due to the topography of the lane. It is not anticipated that there will be more than 1 foot difference either way.

The different colors represent the quantity of Lane Conditioner at various distances down the lane. The highest color line on the chart will be around the arrows (at about 15 feet), the second line further down the lane, and the third towards the end of the Conditioner pattern. The last 20 feet of the lane are clear of any conditioner. The graph represents the amount of conditioner across the lane. The three colored lines show a picture of the conditioner down the length of the lane with the most conditioner nearest to the foul line and reducing in height/units/quantity as you go down the lane.
