Team USA member Derek Eoff (pictured left) rolled a 1450 six-game series Monday at Bowl 300 in Hermosillo, Mexico, en route to lead men's Squad A after 12 games with 2790 12 -game total and an average of 232.50.

Starting the second day of the preliminaries in second place, Eoff came out of the gates quickly with a huge 287 game. After his low game of 179, the American rebounded with 984 for the final four games (245, 256, 238 and 245) and an average of 241.67 for the day.

With 41 out of 82 players having completed 12 games, the 3-time gold medalist in the 2007 Men's American Zone Championships holds a comfortable 134-pin lead over Luis Rodríguez from Puerto Rico. Rodriguez added 1345 to his 1311 from yesterday to sit in second place with 2656 (221.33).

First block leader Martin Larsen (right), Sweden, fell two spots behind a 1259 series today. Larsen is third with 2631 (219.55). Paul Stott from Ireland is mere 9 pins behind Larsen in fourth with 2622 (218.50).

Adrian Judd, New Zealand, rolled a 1328 series to move in fifth place with 2608 (217.33). Francois Sacco, France, had two consistent sets (1291 and 1308) to sit in sixth place with 2599, followed by Korean Choi Won-Young, who is seventh with 2551.

Rounding out the top 8 is Pithakvarakorn Phiriyahbhoon (left), Thailand, with 2549 (212.42).

The 41 players from Squad B led by Canadian Jack Guay take on the 32 lanes at Bol 300 at noon.

All competitors will bowl four six-game blocks (24 games overall) over four days before the field is cut to the top 24 on Wednesday. Advancing players will bowl an additional eight games on Thursday, Nov. 13 before the field is cut to the top 8.

The remaining players will bowl eight games of round robin match play with bonus points on Friday morning to determine the top 3 for Friday's stepladder finals.
