Jasmine Yeong-Nathan (pictured left) from Singapore had three 240, two 220s and a low game of 211 on the third day of the preliminaries to widen her lead in the women's division at the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Nathan added 1394 to her previous six-game blocks (1380, 1436) to lead the field of 63 players from 63 countries with 4210 and an average of 233.89 over 18 games. The 20-year-old national team member holds a 197-pin buffer over second-placed Ann-Maree Putney (right), Australia.

The defending champion, who moved from 29th to fourth place yesterday, leaped another two spots thanks to the second-highest series of 1366 today. Trailing Krista Pöllänen (left), Finland, by 83 pins heading into the 18th game, Putney fired a 267 game while Pöllänen suffered a 153 game en route to change places. Putney is second with 4013 (222.94) and Pöllänen third with 3982.

Helén Johnsson (right), Sweden, moved from 7th to fourth place with 3949 behind a 1356 series today. Sara Vargas from Colombia matched Johnsson's move and leaped from 8th to fifth with 3895.

Tina Hulsch from Germany followed in their footprints and leaped three spots from 9th to 6th place with 3887. Anne Gales, Denmark, fell two spots to 7th place with 3866.

Rounding out the top 8 is Marie Ramirez (left), Costa Rica, with 3841 (213.94).

Just outside the top 8 is Laura Rhoney (right), Scotland, who shot a 300 at the 2006 BWC, in 9th place with 3837.

Next are three of the red hot favorites for the women's title, two-time BWC champion Shannon Pluhowsky, United States and 3-time World Champion Esther Cheah, Malaysia, both tied for 10th place with 3831, and 3-time World Champion and first block leader Zara Glover, England, who is one pin behind in 12th place.

Vargas rolled the first 300 game of this year's event on Sunday, while Yeong-Nathan had the third and the second by a woman on Monday. For the first time in the history of the Bowling World Cup there was more than one 300 game by a woman in the same event.

And today was Cookie Lee's day. The bowler from Hong Kong (pictured left) accomplished the feat in game #17 en route to move into the top 24 with 3613 pinfall total (22nd).

It was the 42nd 300 game in the 44-year history and the fourth of this year's event with the women leading the men by 3 to 1.

With the final six-game block to go on Wednesday at 8 a.m., Michelle Ayala (right), Puerto Rico, holds the 24th and final spot to qualify with just 11 pins under par, 3589, and an average of 199.39.

All competitors will bowl four six-game blocks (24 games overall) over four days before the field is cut to the top 24 on Wednesday.

Those 24 will bowl an additional eight games on Thursday, Nov. 13 to cut to the top 8 players, who will bowl eight games of round robin match play with bonus points on Friday morning to determine the top 3 for Friday's stepladder finals.
