Jasmine Yeong-Nathan (pictured left) from Singapore led the women's preliminaries at the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup as the field of 63 women was cut to the top 24.

The 20-year-old national team member, who took the lead during the second of four 6-game blocks with including a 300 game, felled 5477 pin and averaged 228.21. Yeong-Nathan rolled one of three 300 games by women

Defending champion Ann-Maree Putney (right) started the day with a huge 280 game but had to settle for second place with 5370 (223.75.).


Helen Johnsson (left), Sweden, overtook fellow-Scandinavian Krista Pöllänen, Finland, in the final block thanks to the highest series of the day (1415). Johnsson ended in third place with 5364 (223.50), while Pöllänen (1363) landed in fourth place with 5345 (222.71).

Sara Vargas (right) from Colombia, who posted the first 300 game of the tournament in the first block, maintained her fifth place with 5212 pinfall total (217.17).

England's Zara Glover, who led the preliminaries after day one, jumped from 12th to sixth place behind a 1366 series and a 5196 total (216-50).

Dutch Lisanne Breeschoten (left) rolled the second highest 1385 set en route to climb from 13th to 7th place with 5191 (216.29).

Tina Hulsch, Germany, fell two spots to 8th place with 5149 (214.54).

The top 24 players from the 63-player field after four days of preliminaries and 24 games advanced to the next round. Katrien Goossens (right), Belgium, took the 24th and final spot to advance with 4802 or an average of 200.08.

The advancing players will bowl an additional eight games on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with the qualifying pinfall being carried forward. The top 8 will advance to an eight-game round robin match play round, which will be contested on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. (concurrently with the men's top 8) instead of Friday morning to meet the TV requirements. The top 3 will bowl for the title in Friday's live TV finals.

QubicaAMF has announced that both finals, men and women, will be shown live on Mexican TV channel TelMex. According to European Sport Channel Eurosport2, the men's finals will be broadcasted live on Friday, Nov. 14, starting at 10.30 p.m. CET while the women's finals will be recorded and broadcasted on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 8.30 - 10 p.m. (updated schedule)
