In a title match between the reigning WTBA World Champions in Doubles, Patrick Allen (pictured left), Wesley Chapel, Fla., defeated Rhino Page (right), Topeka, Kan., 267-263, to win the prestigious PBA H&R Block Tournament of Champions, his second PBA major title, the $50,000 top prize plus a two-year exemption.

Allen had a hard time shaking off the fact that his buddy basically handed him the glory by making an errant shot on his second shot in the 10th frame. Needing only a nine-count spare after striking on his first shot in the final frame, Page (right) – the PBA's reigning Rookie of the Year – called for a re-rack to calm himself. Not realizing he had already used the two re-racks he was allowed, he glanced at the 25-second shot clock before re-composing himself.

"Rhino got the ball a little too far left. It came off his hand with nothing on it," Allen said. "I could see it was a bad shot."

Page missed the headpin, knocking down four pins and his dream of winning his first major title disappeared.

"I knew the shot was in trouble when it came off my hand," Page said. "I got distracted with the time clock, but sometimes you have to learn the hard way. I still had a great week. I'll take second after not making the cut the previous three weeks."

"He out-bowled me until that shot," Allen said. "I really feel for him. You don't win out here if you don't get some breaks, but that's not the way you want to win. I got a huge break two weeks ago against Walter Ray Williams Jr., but to be honest, I didn't feel as bad for Walter Ray. He's got 45 titles. You have to get breaks to beat him."

"Over the past few weeks, everything has been going my way," Allen added. "It was an honor to be here the whole week. Winning the Tournament of Champions, especially this week, is something I'll never forget. "

Three lefties, No. 1 Allen, No. 2 Page, No. 3 Mike Scroggins, Amarillo, Texas and right-hander Wes Malott, Pflugerville, Texas, the No. 4 seed advanced to the live TV final which started on Sunday, January 25th, 12:30p.m. ET at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas, Nev.

11-time champion Allen, who was making his record tying fifth consecutive singles telecast, and 5-time champion Scroggins were targeting for their second career "major" title, while 5-time champion Malott and 2-time champion Page in his first major telecast targeted to win their first career major.

In the opening match PBA point ranking leader and Player of the Year frontrunner Wes Malott flew past Mike Scroggins (right), 276-203. Malott started out commandingly, by connecting for the first six strikes, he converted a 4-7 spare in frame seven and added another four-bagger to put the match away well before the final frame.

In the semifinal match, Malott suffered back-to-back 4-6-7-10 splits in frames 4 and 5, while Page struck on four of his first five shots to take a 46-pin lead. The reigning PBA Rookie of the Year fired a 4-bagger in frames 7-10 to set up a title match against his mentor and fellow Team USA member, Allen. The duo won the gold medal in Doubles at the 2008 Men's World Championships in Thailand.

Page pocketed $25,000 for second place, Malott earned $10,000 for third place and Scroggins garnered $6,000 for fourth place.
