Sandelin paces USBC Senior Queens qualifiers

Lucy Sandelin (pictured) of Tampa, Fla., is the top qualifier for the match play finals in the 2009 United States Bowling Congress Senior Queens, finishing the qualifying portion of the tournament at the National Bowling Stadium on Monday with a tournament record 15-game total of 3,147.
Sandelin, who won the 2007 Senior Queens in her debut in the event, led a field of 31 women ages 50 and older into the three-game, double-elimination match play portion of the event Monday afternoon. Defending champion Sandy Postma of Lansing, Ill., rounds out the 32-player match play field.
USBC Hall of Famer Dana Miller-Mackie of Albuquerque, N.M., bowling in her first Senior Queens, was second-highest qualifier with 3,031, followed by second-round leader Lil Johnson of Lawton, Okla., at 3,021.
The USBC Senior Queens concludes with its final match play rounds on Tuesday.
