Clara Juliana Guerrero wins gold in All Events

The five-player teams from Korea (left), the United States (right), Singapore and Sweden will determine the champions in the Team event at the 2009 Women's World Championships in Las Vegas.

Reigning Asian champion Korea with Jeon Eun-Hee, Gang Hye-Eun, Hwang Sun-Ok, Kim Yeau-Jin and Son Yun-Hee posted three games over 1100 and two games over 1000 en route to earn the top seed for the finals. The team improved the previous 6-game championship record (6323) by 281 pins with 6604 pinfall total and an average of 230.13.

Team USA with Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Liz Johnson, Stefanie Nation, Kim Terrell-Kearney, Lynda Barnes and Wendy Macpherson landed in second place with 6451 (215.03).

The young team from Singapore, Bernice Lim, Shayna Ng, Cherie Tan, Jazreel Tan and reigning World Cup champion Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, moved up from 8th place to third in the final three-game lock on medium oil. The Singaporeans had 6389 (212.97).

Swedes Nina Flack, Malin Glendert, Victoria Johansson, Helen Johnsson and Veronica Lantto upset defending champion Malaysia in the last game when the Swedes combined for a huge 1112 game to edge Malaysia for the fourth and final spot to advance. The Swedes chalked up 6357 (211.90).

Denmark, which has made the finals in Singles, Doubles and Trios, missed the fourth final by 103 pins to finish fifth with 6254 (208.47).

Defending champion Malaysia slipped to sixth place behind a final game of 908 with 6244 (208.13).

Semifinal and final action kicks off at 9:30 p.m. EDT and will be streamed live on bowl.com.

The No. 1 (Korea) seed will bowl the No. 4 (Sweden) and No. 2 (United States) takes on No. 3 (Singapore) in the semifinals. The winners will bowl for the title and the losers will share the bronze medal. All matches are one-game matches.

The medals in All Events (combined results of Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team) was decided in the final game of the Team event, the 24th game overall. Clara Juliana Guerrero (pictured left) from Colombia fired a 258 game to secure the prestigious title with 5330 pinfall total and an average of 222.08 over 24 games.

Helen Johnsson, Sweden, finished with a 246 game to claim the silver medal with 5278 (219.92). Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, United States, posted a huge 1412 series in the team event to beat out Rikke Rasmussen, Denmark, fort he bronze medal by 12 pins, 5195 to 5183.

The top 16 players in the All Events standings advance to Masters competition in best-of-five match play format, which will conclude the 2009 Women's World Championships on Sunday. Johnsson the only repeat qualifier from the last WWC in Monterrey, Mexico, where she went out in the Round of 8.

The 2009 Women's World Championships consists of six disciplines. Players will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team and Masters competition before the event concludes Sunday. Medals also will be awarded for All Events.

The World Championships is being held on 60 specially constructed lanes inside Cashman Center and includes the world's largest mobile video scoreboard, an investment of nearly $6 million, spectator seating, office, vendor and pro shop space, a scale room, squad room, registration area and shipping department.

USBC plans to live stream portions of the event on bowl.com, and bowling fans around the world will be able to watch the finals and select semifinals.
