The 2009 Women's World Championships, which were held on 60 specially constructed lanes inside Cashman Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, drew record 228 women from record 45 World Tenpin Bowling Association member federations.

Clara Juliana Guerrero (All Events and Masters), right, from Colombia and Stefanie Nation (Singles), left, USA, won the three individual medals.

A combined team of two spinners and one traditional bowler from Chinese Taipei (below left) was the surprise winner in Trios, while the bowlers from South Korea (below right) captured the other two team medals by winning in Doubles and 5-player Team.

11 of the 45 countries shared the gold, silver and bronze medals in six disciplines, Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters. Korea led the medal tally with 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. Colombia was second with two gold, followed by the United States (1-2-1-) and Chinese Taipei (1 gold).

Sweden earned one silver and one bronze, while Mexico and Australia had one silver medal each. Denmark had three bronze medals while Finland, Japan and Singapore had one bronze medal each.

Hwang Sun Ok, left, Korea, was the most decorated player with two gold medals (Doubles and Team) and a silver medal in Masters. Her team mate and partner in Doubles, Gang Hye Eun, right, had two gold and a bronze medal in Masters. The only other player winning two gold medals was Clara Juliana Guerrero (pictured right), Colombia, who won the prestigious All Events and Masters titles.
