    Lalisang, Limansantoso win the 2009 season-ending titles in Kuwait

    2009ABFToCRyanLalisangSharonLimansantoso2.jpgIndonesia's No. 1 Ryan Lalisang and rising star Sharon Limansantoso finished the 2009 Asian Bowling Federation Tour with victory in the Tournament of Champions Friday at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait.

    In the men's title match, Lalisang struck 10 times before he left a 10-pin standing to shut out Hussain Al-Suwaidi, UAE, 289-199. Lalisang pocketed $20,000 for first place, while Al-Suwaidi received $8,000 for second.

    2009ABFToCRyanLalisang.jpgLalisang (pictured right), who finished the 15-game preliminaries in 5th place, eliminated Khalid Al-Dubyyan, Kuwait, in the quarterfinals, 237-228, and carried the momentum into the semifinals, where he sent Yousif Falah, Bahrain, packing, 266-215.

    Al-Suwaidi had no problems to beat qualifying leader Yannaphon Larpapharat, Thailand, 220-188, and Somjed Kusonpithak, Thailand, 220-171, on his way to the final.

    Falah and Kusonpithak earned $4,000 each for third and 4th place.

    On the women's side, Sharon Limansantoso stunned recent ABTT ranking champion Kim Eun Jung, Korea, who led the preliminaries with a 208.40 average, 204-178, to win her first major title and the $10,000 top prize. Kim garnered $5,000 for second.

    Kim defeated pro bowler Shalin Zulkifli, Malaysia, 193-179, and defending ToC champion Tang Joh Six, Malaysia, 197-181, to advance to the title match.

    Tang and Chan earned $3,000 each for third and 4th place.

    The 2009 ABT Tour featured seven tournaments in Kuwait, Bahrain, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Macau, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. The top 16 men and the top 16 women of the 2009 ABF Tour point rankings earned a spot in the Tournament of Champions.

    The 2010 ABF Tour will get underway April 1, 2010 in Kuwait following the 7th Kuwait International Open. Besides the seven events from the 2009 Tour there will be an additional 8th event in Egypt. The 2011 ABF Tour ToC is scheduled for January 2011 (venue not decided yet).
