Canada among the 48 countries competing at World Youth Championships

    2010WYCLogo.jpg Canada will compete at the under-20 World Youth Championships which will be held in Helsinki, Finland, July 24-August 1, 2010. Tali Bowl, the site of the 1987 World Championships and many European championships, will host the event. Bowlers from 48 countries are expected to participate.

    Canada’s representatives earned the right to wear the red and white at the 2009 National Championships held in Burlington, Ontario in May 2009.

    The girl’s team includes Carrie Hopkinson, Drumbo, Ontario, Valerie Calberry, Brampton, ON, Karyne Legault, Sarnia, ON and Marie-Eve Robertson, St-Jerome, Quebec.

    Francois Lavoie, Quebec City, QC, Matthew Lewis, Burlington, ON, Brad Geerts, Sarnia, ON and Frankie Catanzariti, Montreal, QC are the members of the boy’s team. Deborah Chan and Damien Skellings, Calgary, Alberta will coach the teams.

    The event will include competition in Singles, Doubles, Teams and All Events for both boys and girls. The event will conclude with Masters match play competition for the top 16 in All Events - girls and boys.
