Estrada, Prats win second gold for Dominican Republic in Men's Doubles at CACG

Jose Estrada and Francisco Prats followed in the footprints of Women's doubles champions Aumi Guerra and Paula Vilas when they captured the second gold medal for the Dominican Republic in Men's Doubles at the 21st Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico.

The duo combined for 2694 pinfall total including the field-bets 532 game, an individual average of 224.50 for six games, to finish atop the leaderboard of 36 doubles from 14 countries. Estrada (right) had the highest series of all 72 competitors with 1430 (238.33) including a 288 game, the highest of the day and Prats (left) added 1264.
Estrada and Prats finished with a 459 game to beat out Andres Gomez and Manuel Otalora, Colombia, for the gold medal by 10 Pins. The Colombians started with the highest three-game series of 1386 and led the field heading into the final game. The duo closed out the set with 404 to land in second place with 2684 total (223.67).
Their compatriots Fabio Garcia and Juan Rodriguez tied with Rafael Medina and Ildemaro Ruiz, Venezuela, for third place to share the bronze medal with 2574 (214.50).
Francisco Colon and Luis Rodríguez from the host country of Puerto Rico were mere four pins behind to end up in fifth place with 2570.
The 21st Central American and Caribbean Games (XXI Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos y del Caribe) will take place in the city of Mayagüez and in other cities of the Porta del Sol region in the west of Puerto Rico. The Bowling competition will be held at Bolera Caribe in Ponce from July 19-25, 2010.
