Pasi Uotila rises to the top in Singles Squad 3 at the Men's World Championships

    The Finn shoots the first 300 game of the Championships

    2010MWCPasiUotila.jpg2010MWCErnestoFranco.jpgPasi Uotila (pictured left), Finland, rolled the first 300 game of the Men's World Championships in Germany en route to overtake the lead in the Singles preliminaries after 3 of 5 squads.

    With one game to go in Squad 3 at the 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring, Uotila and Ireland's Alan Bride were tied at 1137 for five games and Ernesto Franco (right), Mexico, was mere one pin behind with 1136.

    Uotila, who achieved perfection on lanes 31 and 32 in game #3, struck in the 8th, 9th and on his first two shots in the 10th frame for 220 to take the lead with 1357 six-game total and an average of 226.17.

Bride (right) managed 199 in his final game to fall behind previous leaders Nobuhito Fujii (left), Japan, and Jang Dong-Chu, Korea, who slipped to third and fourth place with 1347 and 1346, respectively. Bride missed the top 4 by 10 pins to sit in fifth place with 1336(222.67).

    3-time European Bowling Tour ranking champion Paul Moor, England, had six games between 215 and 226 to land in sixth place with 1328 (221.33).

    The top 4 players at the end of the preliminaries will advance to the playoffs. The preliminaries will conclude on Saturday with Squads 4 and 5

    2010MWCBrianVoss.jpgColumnistTedThompson2.jpg The 2010 WTBA Men's World Championships will run through Aug. 21st. 356 players from 65 countries will compete for medals in six events - Singles, Doubles, Trios, five-player Team, All Events and Masters match play.

    Bowlingdigital.com will provide live streaming of the semifinals and finals of each event. PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss will serve as color commentator and Ted Thompson of Kegel, the official lane maintenance provider of the Championships, will serve as analyst.

    The preliminaries of each event will be streamed with a web cam.
