JPBATourLogoRed.jpg The Japan Professional Bowlers Association (JPBA) has announced the schedule for the 2011 Ladies and Men's JPBA Tour including 14 tournaments for the women and 10 tournaments for the men.

The Ladies Tour begins with the Kansai Open Feb. 18-20, 2011 and concludes with the Handa Pro Bowling Championships Dec. 15-17, 2011.

The Men's Tour kicks off with the SAP Saitama Open May 19-22, 2011 and also concludes with the Handa Pro Bowling Championships Dec. 1-3, 2011.

The "Majors" on the 2011 JPBA Tour are the Round 1 Cup in June (men) and October (women) as well as the ABS Japan Open in November and the Handa Pro Bowling Championships in December.

2011JPBAShotaKawazoe.jpg The 2010 ABS Japan Open set the highlight of the 2010 JPBA Tour season when Shota Kawazoe (pictured right) of Fukuoka rolled back-to-back 300 games on TV in the championship match (double-elimination format) to claim his first JPBA title.

Immediately following was the 2010 ABS Japan Open women's title match in which Wendy Macpherson, United States, posted another 300 game on her way to the title.

Kawazoe, a rookie on the JPBA Tour, also won the 44th Pro Bowling Championships and finished second in the 5th MK Charity Cup and third in the Round 1 Cup 2010 to lead the Tour in Points, Prize Money and Average. The 22-year-old right-hander was named MVP of the 2011 JPBA Tour and also received the 2010 Rookie of the Year award.

2011JPBAMayumiYoshida.jpg Mayumi Yoshida (pictured left) of Osaka was named MVP of the 2011 JPBA Women's Tour for the second time after 2003. The 34-year-old right-hander became just the second player to win the JPBA Tour without winning a title. The first was Mitsuko Tokimoto in 1996.

Yoshida, a six-time JPBA champion, was the most consistent woman in the past season finishing in the top 10 in 10 out of 11 events.

After 25 years the annual Japan Cup was postponed until further notice. According to Junia Yoshida of Japan Bowling Promotion it is currently unclear whether or not the Japan Cup will continue.
