Dane Thomas Larsen leads European Bowling Tour men's rankings after Catalonia

    2011 European Bowling Tour Rankings

    Colombia's Clara Juliana Guerrero moves into second place in the women's rankings

    2010EBT15ThomasLarsen.jpg2011EBT04GeryVerbruggen.jpgThomas Larsen (pictured left) made the stepladder finals of the Catalonia Open in Barcelona, Spain, and though he failed to defend his title, the Dane overtook the lead in the European Bowling Tour men's rankings after the fifth tournament of the 2011 season.

    Larsen. who fell to compatriot Jesper Agerbo in the semifinal match, earned 70 ranking points for his third place finish to leap from fourth to first place with 292 total points. Agerbo, who lost against PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss, United States, in the title match jumped from a tied 21st to ninth place with 160 points.

    Four-time EBT ranking champion Gery Verbruggen (right), Belgium, was the only other player in the top 16, who competed in Catalonia. The lefty, who dominated the Tour in its first four years 2000-04, moved from third to second place with 262 points.

The Malaysian national team member fell to third place with 250 points.

    Three-time EBT ranking champion (2007-09) Osku Palermaa (right), Finland, fell from second to fourth place with 234, while reigning EBT ranking champion Dominic Barrett, England, and three-time EBT ranking champion (2004-06) Paul Moor, England, remained in fifth and sixth place with 187 and 175 points, respectively. All three competed in the Kuwait Open.

    Dennis Eklund, Sweden, was seventh with 171 followed by Oliver Blasé, Germany, in eighth place with 165. Rounding out the top 10 were Marco Baade, Germany, and Mika Koivuniemi, Finland, who were tied for tenth place at 150 points.

    Voss earned 100 points for winning his second EBT title, his first points this season, to jump into 21st place.

Carolyn Dorin-Ballard (left), United States, who also leads the women's World Bowling Tour rankings, did not compete in the Catalonia Open but continued to lead the EBT women's rankings with 320 total points.

    Clara Juliana Guerrero (right), Colombia, who has won her first EBT title in the Brunswick Euro Challenge, finished 35th overall and 13th in the women's rankings to overtake second place with 278 points. The best European woman so far is reigning World Games champion Krista PöllÀnen, Finland (no show in Catalonia), who slipped from second to third place with 275 points.

Nina Flack, one of four Swedish women, who reached the finals of the Kuwait Open, stayed in fifth place with 205.

    Flack's compatriot Joline Persson Planefors (right) won the first EBT ranking title in her career, worth 100 points, to leap from 18th to sixth place with 186 points. Wendy Kok, Netherlands, moved from 15th to seventh with 171 points.

    Patricia Luoto, Germany, and Jacqueline Sijore, Malaysia, slipped to eighth and ninth place with 155 and 150 points respectively. Nicole Sanders, Netherlands, leaped one spot to tenth place with 147 points.

    2010EBTLogo_small.jpg Since the Viborg International in Denmark has been cancelled, the 2011 European Bowling Tour features 21 tournaments in 17 countries, two Platinum, six Gold, seven Silver and six Satellite tournaments. The total prize fund of the 2011 Tour will exceed 1 million Euro.

    2011 EBT champions, men's and women's ranking winners and schedule

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each tournament of the European Bowling Tour cash ranking points no matter from which country or World Tenpin Bowling Association Zone (Europe, Asia, America) he or she comes.

    The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament such as Catalonia Open earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    The top 16 men and the top 16 women in the EBT ranking will qualify for the 2012 EBT Masters to be held in conjunction with the 3rd Dream Bowl Palace Open in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany April 30 and May 1, 2012.

    The 2011 European Bowling Tour takes a short break before heading to Unterföhring in the outskirts of Munich, Germany, for the 2nd Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open to be held from March 30 - April 3, 2011 at Dream Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany.
