PABCON announces participating countries in 16th Pan American Games 2011

    2011PAGLogo.jpg The Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) has named the 16 countries who will participate in the men's and women's bowling competition of the XVI Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico in October.

    The Pan American Games are an Americas version of the Olympic Games which includes the Olympic program sports and others that are not part of the Olympics.

    The bowling competition will be held from Oct. 22-27 at Bowlerama Tapatío. The bowling center will also host the 2011 PABCON Men's Championships from May 7-14, 2011.

    The host country of Mexico was automatically qualified to participate in both divisions. The other 15 countries were determined by the final standings of the men's and women's Team competition at the 2009 PABCON Championships in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

    Joining Mexico in the women's division are Aruba, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, Panama, Puerto Rico, United States and Venezuela. The Netherlands Antilles (now: Curaçao) declined and Peru was awarded the spot.

    On the men's side Mexico meets Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, United States, and Venezuela.

    Maximum two men and two women per country will compete for medals in Singles and Doubles.
