    Norway's Tore Torgersen rolls first 300 game on medium oil

    The 16 men and the 16 women bowled six games each on the medium and long oil conditioning pattern on Monday. The winners of each block received a 400 Euro bonus.

    Koivuniemi, who has won his second EBT title of the 2011 season yesterday in the 5th QubicaAMF Open, had the second-highest block on medium (1469) and third-highest on long (1405) to lead the men's division after 12 games with 2874 pinfall total and an average of 239.50.

Third place belonged to PBA and USBC Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III with 2830. Finland's two-hander Osku Palermaa (left) led the long oil contest with 1443 and added 1379 on medium to finish Day One in fourth place with 2822.

    Tore Torgersen (right) of Norway, who had the tournament's first 300 game in the sixth game on medium oil, was fifth with 2796 and was followed by Mike Fagan, United States, in sixth place with 2784 and Perttu Jussila, Finland, in seventh place with 2755.

    2011EBT04GeryVerbruggen2.jpg2010AGCherieTan.jpgFour-time EBT ranking champion Gery Verbruggen (left), Belgium, pocketed the 400 Euro bonus on medium oil with a 1488 series but slipped to eight place with 2728 after a 1248 on long oil.

    On the women's side, Cherie Tan (right) holds a comfortable 132-pin lead after 12 games. The Singaporean had the second-best six-game series on medium oil (1303) and outaveraged her nearest competitor on long oil by more than 15 pins thanks to a 1438 series. Tan totaled 2741 pins, an average of 228.42.

    Second place belonged to Wendy Kok, Netherlands, who started with 1266 but rebounded with the second-highest 1343 series in Block 2 for 2609 (217.42). World Game champion Krista Pöllänen, Finland, was mere three pins behind in third place with 2606 and was followed by Lisanne Breeschoten, Netherlands, in fourth place with 2569.

Three-time defending EBT Masters champion Kamilla Kjeldsen (right), Denmark, was sixth with 2558 and was followed by compatriot Mai Ginge Jensen (2534), who has won the women's rankings in the fifth QubicaAMF Open.

    Rounding out the top 8 was reigning EBT women's ranking champion Nina Flack, Sweden, with 2511.

    All players return on Tuesday morning for the final six-game block on mixed oil (one lane dressed with medium oil, the other lane with long oil) after which the field will be cut to the top 8 men and the top 8 women, who will determine the champion in seven games round robin match play with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The players with the highest pinfall total after 25 games including bonus points (20 for a win, 10 for a tie) will be crowned men's and women's EBT Masters champion worth 4.000 Euro each.
