A few physical adjustments and a new mindset helped Patti Schultz (pictured left) of Braidwood, Ill., into the second-round lead at the USBC Senior Queens on Sunday.

The 53-year-old right-hander also started the day in 16th place, but averaged more than 232 on the way into the top spot with a 2,193 total for 10 games at the Oncenter Convention Center.

USBC Hall of Famer Dana Miller-Mackie of Albuquerque, N.M., is second with 2,178, while opening-round leader and first-time participant, Cynthia Johnson (right) of Bowie, Md., is third with 2,159.

"I felt a lot more comfortable throwing the ball today," said Schultz, who shot 1,023 in Saturday's first round and games of 224, 214, 257, 256 and 219 on Sunday. "I moved left of where I was yesterday and changed the surface on my ball to get a better read on the lane. I'm in a good place now, and my plan is just to repeat what I did today for the rest of the tournament."

Jeanette Porter (left) of Omaha, Neb., provided some excitement to the second round of qualifying by rolling the second perfect game in 12 years of Senior Queens competition.

The 59-year-old right-hander added games of 172, 166, 189 and 153 and snuck into the first cut with a 1,864 total for 10 games. Two-time Senior Queens champion Shirley Levens of Cocoa, Fla., tossed the event's only other 300 game at the 2005 tournament in Tulsa, Okla.

All 76 Senior Queens participants have competed 10 games of qualifying, and the top 40 will bowl an additional five games Monday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern. Dora Nettleman of Eaton Rapids, Mich., finished in 40th place with a 10 game total of 1,863.

Following the third round, the top 31 qualifiers will join defending champion Char Hammel (right) of Las Vegas in the double-elimination match-play bracket. Hammel sits in 18th place after 10 games with 1,985.

The Senior Queens finals will be broadcast live on BOWL.com on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Eastern.
