The Aalborg International drew only 135 players - 97 men and 38 women - from mere eleven countries. A total of 48 players advanced to the finals. Rounds 1-3 featured 4-game series starting from scratch which trimmed the field to 12 players who determined the champion in a final six-game block with the pinfall from Round 3 being carried forward.

Palermaa made the first cut by one pin and never led the tournament until the third round of the finals, when it counted the most. The two-hander fired games of 299, 253, 218 and 235 for 1005, an average of 251.25, to take a comfortable 106-pin lead.

Palermaa closed things out with a 1350 six-game series including games of 214, 215, 246, 235, 226 and 214 to cruise to the title. He finished with 2355 for ten games and received the 9.000 Euro top prize.

The Finn, who has won his first PBA title in the 2010-11 PBA Tour season, is just the second player with multiple titles this season. His compatriot Mika Koivuniemiis the other.
