Thailand's Yannaphon Larp-apharat, Korea's Lee Mi Ryun win Macau China Int'l Open

    2011MacauOpenYannaphonLarpapharat.jpg2011MacauOpenLeeMiRyung.jpgThailand's Yannaphon Larp-apharat (pictured left) and Korea's Lee Mi Ryun (right) rolled big games to win the men's and women's Open Masters titles in the Macau China International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships Saturday, July second at COTAI International Bowling Center in Macau, China.

    Larp-apharat, who beat out Wu Siu Hong for the top seed by 27 pins averaging 220.31 for 16 games in the men's finals, met the Hong Kong bowler in the title match. Siu Hong, who had to defeat the top seed twice to win the title rolled a 228 game bit Yannaphon flew past his opponent with a huge 258 to seal the victory, worth Macanese pataca $70,000 (approx. US$9,000).

    2011MacauOpenMenTop6.jpgLee Mi Ryung, who was seeded fifth after the women's round one and two, trailing her compatriot, tournament leader Shin Bo Hyun, by 87 pins and had to win four games to claim the title.

    2011MacauOpenWomenTop6.jpgIn the opening game Lee posted a 221 game to eliminate Milki Ng, Hong Kong (167) and Lai Kin Ngoh (203), Malaysia. In the semifinal, a 189 game was good enough to oust No. 2 Li Shiau Ping (179) and No. 3 Huang Chiung Yao (165), both of Chinese Taipei.

    In an all-Korean title match, Lee forced a deciding second game with a 192-87 win in the first game. Shin posted a 211 but Lee countered with a huge 245 to win the game and the title. She pocketed MOP $40,000 (approx. US$5,000) for the win.

    The top 16 men and top 16 women qualified for the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Macau leg.
