Gary Faulkner Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, has been unanimously selected as the December 2015 Kegel Bowler of The Month by the International Bowling Media Association.

Faulkner won the Rolltech PBA World Championship, defeating E.J. Tackett, Huntington, Indiana, 216-178, in the title match, for his first Professional Bowlers Association title.

The live televised stepladder finals began with the fourth seed Scott Norton, Mission Viejo, California, downing fifth seed Rhino Page, Orlando, Florida, 215-202. The third seed Faulkner, ousted Norton, 262-218, and the second seed Ryan Ciminelli, Cheektowaga, New York, 247-237, setting up the title match.

Faulkner’s three of six games in the cashers round were 299, 288, and 279, boosting him from sixteenth to fifth place to begin match play. Through the 24-game round-robin match play rounds, Faulkner didn’t drop lower than fifth place.

The former Junior Team USA member anchored Webber International’s Intercollegiate Team Championships championship team in 2012 and was ITC tournament MVP in 2013. Faulkner now joins 1993 PBA Tournament of Champions winner George Branham III as the only African American champions on the PBA Tour.

Others obtaining votes this month were Parker Bohn III, winner of the PBA Cheetah Championship and the PBA50 Challenge presented by the International Bowling Museum Hall of Fame, Cameron Weier, winner of the World Bowling Tour Qatar Bowing Open, and Shayna Ng, All-Events gold medalist at the World Bowling Women’s World Championships.
