Lynda Barnes wins her third gold medal in WSrC Masters

In the fourth gold medal sweep for the United States in the World Senior Championships 2017, Lynda Barnes and Parker Bohn III captured the masters titles as the Championships came to a close Sunday in Germany.

In best-of-three games format, Barnes (pictured above) swept Janne Monsen of Norway, 2-0, in the women’s title match at Dream Bowl Palace in the Munich-area suburb of Unterföhring, while Bohn came back from a 1-0 deficit to capture the men’s title with a 2-1 victory over Joe Ciach of Canada, including a one-pin win in the decider.

Barnes, two-time PWBA champion and World Cup champion, medaled in all five events and led the individual medal tally with three gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Bohn earned four medals, including three gold and one bronze medal.

Bowlingdigital.com provided onsite coverage of the event commencing Tuesday, August 15, with the singles preliminaries all the way through to the masters finals on Sunday, August 20.

The 3rd World Senior Championships 2017 were held from August 13-20 at Europe’s biggest bowling center, the beautiful 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany.

A record field of 163 men and 110 women from 44 countries (players must be 50 years of age or above in the year of the championship) competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in singles, doubles, four-player teams, all-events and masters in the seven-day competition.

The top 24 in all-events determined the medalists in masters in best-of-three games single-elimination match play format.

In accordance with World Bowling Statutes and Playing Rules Chapter 4.6.2, the 2017 World Senior Championships were contested on the 41 feet Montreal lane conditioning pattern selected from Bank 2 (formerly “medium”) patterns of the World Bowling bank of patterns.

The 4th World Senior Championships will return to Las Vegas in August 2019, this time to the new South Point Bowling Plaza, which is part of the South Point Hotel and Casino.
