Several of the Professional Bowlers Association’s most talented future stars will take on an all-star roster of PBA Tour champions when the PBA Xtra Frame Storm Open visits Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville, Ill., Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24.

At stake in the second of an expanded schedule of 10 events that will be covered exclusively start to finish by pba.com’s online video service Xtra Frame, the event will mark the first time that a PBA tournament that awards a PBA Tour title will be held in the Fox Valley/Carpentersville area. Liberty Lanes has been a regular host for PBA’s regional tour.

2015PBASeanRash.jpg2015PBABillONeill.jpgPBA created the special Xtra Frame PBA Tour in 2015 to complement its regular Tour schedule on ESPN and the CBS Sports Network, enabling more bowling fans around the country to attend events that feature the sport’s biggest stars in addition to watching coverage on Xtra Frame.

Among the early entries in Carpentersville are several PBA Tour champions including nine-time PBA Tour winner and former Player of the Year Sean Rash (left) of Montgomery, Ill.; seven-time winner Bill O’Neill (right) of Langhorne, Pa.; six-time winner Ryan Ciminelli of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; three-time winners Dick Allen of Columbia, S.C., Ronnie Russell of Marion, Ind., and Eugene McCune of Munster, Ind., and 2014 Rookie of the Year Marshall Kent of Yakima, Wash.

2015PBAAnthonySimonsen.jpgAlso entered is Anthony Simonsen (left) of Princeton, Texas, who made PBA history February by becoming the youngest player to win a PBA Tour major when he captured the United States Bowling Congress Masters title in February at age 19.

Each XF PBA Tour event awards a PBA Tour title to the winner, a minimum $10,000 first prize and competition points to the top 20 players toward a special $10,000 Xtra Frame series bonus.

The PBA Xtra Frame Storm Open gets underway on April 22, with a practice session 4-6 p.m. followed by a pro-am squad at 7 p.m. when grassroots league bowlers – men, women, kids, seniors – can bowl with PBA stars for their own prizes.

Competition begins with two eight-game qualifying squads on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the top 16 players advancing to the match play finals on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. The top five players after 20 games will compete in a stepladder finale scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

The entire tournament will be covered live, exclusively by PBA’s Xtra Frame online bowling channel. For tournament pro-am and admission information, contact Jerry Morano at Liberty Lanes at (847) 428-6446 or click here.
