Troup, a two-handed right-hander who won his third Professional Bowlers Association title in the Lucky Larsen Storm Masters in Sweden in September, had games of 227, 279, 257, 233, 244, 225 and back-to-back 249.
The 27-year-old son of eight-time PBA Tour winner Guppy Troup averaged 245.38 for his eight games to out average fellow PBA champions, Yannaphon Larp-apharat (left) of Thailand and Andres Gomez of Colombia by more than 10 pins.
Yannaphon, who won his lone PBA title in the 2017 PBA-WBT Thailand event, closed his series with 247 to tie three-time PBA titlist Gomez (215 in the last game) for second place at 1882.
Gomez (right) has two third-place finishes in the World Cup, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and 2012 in Wroclaw, Poland.
2006 World Cup winner Osku Palermaa of Finland, who owns five PBA titles along with 13 European Bowling Tour titles, rounds out the top 4 with 1837 after finishing his set with a 258 game.
Asian Games champion Ryan Lalisang (right) of Indonesia was mere 10 pins behind Palermaa in fifth place with 1827 and was followed by Ryan Reid (below left) of Canada, who was further eight pins back in seventh place with 1819.
Rounding out the top 10 were Sam Cooley of Australia (below right – 8th, 1807), Michael Mak of Hong Kong (9th, 1779) and Oliver Morig of Germany (10th, 1749).
The men are done for today and will return Wednesday at 1.30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) for the second block. The women will bowl their first block Tuesday afternoon and the second block on Wednesday morning at 8.30 a.m.

All competitors at the 2018 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will bowl 24 qualifying games over three days before the field is cut to the top 24 for eight additional games. The 32-game pinfall totals will determine the 8 players who advance to eight games round-robin match-play (30 pins for each win, 15 for a tie).
In a change to last year, the top 4 players with highest 40-game total including bonus pins will advance to the finals. No. 1 bowls no. 4 and no. 2 bowls no. 3 in the semi-finals. The winners bowl for the title.
