World Bowling announces tier allocations for World Bowling Tour 2018

World Bowling, the governing body for the sport of bowling, has announced the tier allocations for the World Bowling Tour 2018. For the first time in World Bowling Tour history, a three-tier system has been introduced.

  • Tier 1 events: Athletes receive six times the number of WBT Ranking points. Events have more than $200,000USD prize money, an elite field of competitors and event prestige.
  • Tier 2 events: Athletes receive four times the number of WBT Ranking points. Events have between $100,000 and $200,000USD prize money and a solid field of competitors.
  • Tier 3 events: Athletes receive two times the number of WBT Ranking points. Events have between $50,000 and $100,000USD prize money.

The WBT 2018 features twelve stops, five in Germany, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Hong Kong and seven stops on U.S. soil. More events may be added, at least 3 months’ notice provided.

The 2018 Tour began with the Brunswick Euro Challenge in Munich, Germany, in March and will conclude with the World Bowling Men’s World Championship November Nov. 24 to Dec. 5 at SCAA bowling center in Hong Kong, China.
