Finland captures the title in Boys Doubles at European Youth Championships

Jesse Kallio and Niko Kurppa of Finland defeated Norway's Øyvin Kulseng and Mathias Reinertsen by three pins, 391-388, to claim the gold medal in Boys Doubles at the European Youth Championships in Denmark.
The fourth seeded Norwegians, who stunned No. 1 seed Jesper Svensson and Filip Wilhelmsson, Sweden, in the semifinal, 412-359, rolled games of 183 and 214 in the title match, while Kallio suffered a 147 low game. Kurppa, however, posted 244 to help grab the gold medal.
The Finns, seeded third, topped the other Swedish duo, second seeded Emil Nilsson and Pontus Andersson in the other semifinal, 430-400.
Finland earned the first gold medal in the Boys Division of the championships. Norway took silver and the Swedish teams shared the bronze medal.
The 25th European Youth Championships will be held from March 31 through April 9, 2012 at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark.
The EYC 2012 is divided in two divisions - boys and girls. Each team consists of maximum four male and four female players, who must not have reached the age of 19 before August 31st, 2012.
The players compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Doubles, Teams, Singles, All Events (18 games) and Masters (top 24 in All Events, single-elimination, best-of-three games). Competition starts on Monday, April 2 with the Boys Doubles and ends on Easter Sunday, April 8, with the Boys and Girls Masters match play.
