Kim Min Hee of Korea and UAE's Shaker Al-Hassan captured the women's and men's open titles in the 39th MWA Thailand International Open 2013 Monday at S.F. Strike Bowl Ngamwongwan in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Kim (pictured left) earned 100,000 Baht (approx. USD 3,465) and Al-Hassan received 300,000 Baht (approx. USD 10,390) for accomplishing the feat.

The biggest pay check, however, went to Thai youth bowler Phumin Klanbida, who pocketed 350,000 Baht (approx. USD 12,125) for winning the 'Thailand the Master' tournament, which was held concurrently with the Thailand Open.

2013ThailandOpenShakerAlHassan.jpgIn the women's open stepladder final, Kim, seeded third, defeated No. 1 seed, Yanee Saebe of Thailand twice, 166-153 and 179-176, to seal the third consecutive victory in the women's division for Korea. Her compatriot Lee Na-Young won the title in 2011 and 2012.

On the men's side, top-seeded Al-Hassan (right) had to sit and wait for his opponent. Annop Arromsaranun survived a low-scoring semifinal with a 172 game against Michael Mak (169), Hong Kong, and his fellow countryman Dechochai Tinjiratip (137).

The 'Thailand the Master' title match was an all-Thai affair with No. 1 seed, Phumin Klanbida (left) and No. 2 Yannaphon Larp-apharat squaring off. National team member Yannaphon forced a decisive game with a 194-165 but Phumin rebounded with a huge 277-170 win to seal the victory.

The top 16 Asian men and the top 16 Asian women in the final standings of the Thailand International Open advance to the third leg of the 2013 Asian Bowling Federation Tour, which will be contested on Tuesday, April 23, at S.F. Strike Bowl Ngamwongwan.
