Wiekeraad wins gold medal in Girls Masters finals at the 20th European Youth Championships

It was the second gold medal for the 17-year old from Schiedam after the Team event and the third gold medal for the Netherlands (the other came in Trios).

Wiekeraad, who won the first game easily 184-159, reeled off three strikes from the ninth frame to force Johansson to double in the 10th. A solid 7 for the right-hander on a pocket hit sealed her faith.

CarolinWitvrouwen_small.jpg The 16-year-old, who won gold with the Dutch five-player team, ousted Swede Rebecka Larsen (pictured left), 233-202 in the deciding third game of the best-of-three games semi-final.

She meets another Swede, Viktoria Johansson, in the TV final at Strike Bowling Center. Johansson swept Carolin Witvrouwen (on the right), 2-0, to advance. Larsen and Witvrouwen ended up tied for bronze.

Two Swede, a Dutch and a Belgian advance to the Girls Masters Semi-finals at the 20th European Youth Championships

The Belgian sidelined Caroline Jonsson, 2-1.

Maciver shoots big scores to advance to Girls Masters Round 2 in 20th European Youth Championships

2007EYCLogo_small.jpg England's Katrina Maciver fired games of 226 and 277 to fly past Russian Anna Turikova, 2-0, in Round 1 of the Girls Masters finals in the 20th European Youth Championships. Dutch Carmen Haandrikman; Olena Mishchenko, Ukraine; Viktoria Johansson, Sweden; and Marija Tkachenko; Latvia also made quick work of their opponents. Caroline Jonsson, Sweden; Sarah Overall, England and Renate Jakobsen, Norway won the tie-breaker to advance. Those eight will meet the top 8 from All Events in Round 2.
