Wiekeraad wins gold medal in Girls Masters finals at the 20th European Youth Championships

Bianca Wiekeraad (l.) from the Netherlands defeated Viktoria Johansson (r.), Sweden, 2-0, to win the Girls Masters title in the 20th European Youth Championships at Strike Bowling Club in Thessaloniki, Greece.
It was the second gold medal for the 17-year old from Schiedam after the Team event and the third gold medal for the Netherlands (the other came in Trios).
Wiekeraad, who won the first game easily 184-159, reeled off three strikes from the ninth frame to force Johansson to double in the 10th. A solid 7 for the right-hander on a pocket hit sealed her faith.

Maciver shoots big scores to advance to Girls Masters Round 2 in 20th European Youth Championships
England's Katrina Maciver fired games of 226 and 277 to fly past Russian Anna Turikova, 2-0, in Round 1 of the Girls Masters finals in the 20th European Youth Championships. Dutch Carmen Haandrikman; Olena Mishchenko, Ukraine; Viktoria Johansson, Sweden; and Marija Tkachenko; Latvia also made quick work of their opponents. Caroline Jonsson, Sweden; Sarah Overall, England and Renate Jakobsen, Norway won the tie-breaker to advance. Those eight will meet the top 8 from All Events in Round 2.
