Israelis move to the top of the leaderboard in Boys Doubles

The number 3 turned out to be Israel's lucky number. The first doubles was second in Squad 1, the second duo was first in Squad 2, but the score wasn't good enough for the overall lead.
When Aviv Alfital and Ben Fishler (l-r) got up for their sixth and final game in Squad 3, the two Israelis had already 156 pins over a 200 average and needed a 393 series to overtake Perttu Jussila and Tony Ranta from Finland, who led since the first squad with 2548.
Alfital fired a 238 and Fishler added 214 to move to the top of the leaderboard with 2608 pinfall total and an average of 217.33. Fishler had six games over 200 including high games of 249 and 242 to jump into third place in All Events with 1347 pinfall total, an average of 224.50. Alfital contributed 1261 pins.
The Finns, pictured left, slipped one spot to second. Ireland's Cian Cloake and Keith O'Reilly rolled a 426 final game including O'Reilly's 245 to beat out the second Israel duo, Ori Sonnenschein and Dor Speizman, for third place by four pins, 2528 to 2524. O'Reilly had games of 223, 216, 247, 222, 209 and 245, an average of 227.00 to overtake the lead in All Events with 1362.
Norwegians Alexander Kvinnesland, who rolled the high game of the championships with 278 in Squad 2, and Ole Jorgen Arntsen (pictured right, from left), fell to fifth place with 2499. Dane Thomas Larsen nearly matched Kvinnesland's feat firing a 276 in game #5 to take the sixth position with team mate Paul Hutchinson at 2488.
Russians Ramil Zinatullin and Alexey Vasilenko fell to seventh place with 2481, followed by the third team from Israel, Nati Volfart and Oron Cohen in eighth place with 2474.
Swedes Joachim Karlsson and Johan Hellden (l-r) had a slow start with 386 and 383 but rebounded with 400, 458, 430 and 414 to climb into ninth place with 2471.
With 57 doubles in the books, Hungarians David Kodmon and Gyorgy Bodis round out the top 10 with 2469 or an average of 205.75.
The fourth and final squad will conclude the competition and determine the first gold, silver and bronze medalists in the Boys Division at the 20th European Youth Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece, The squad will be finished around 11 p.m. local time (GM +2 hours). Due to the late finish the medal presentation will take place on Tuesday at 1.30 p.m.
