Italians take the early lead in Boys Doubles at the 20th European Youth Championships

2007EYCLanzafarmeTomatisRadiFormisano.jpg Daniele Tomatis, Tommaso Radi and Augusto Formisano (pictured from l-r with coach Salvatore Lanzalame, far left) took the early lead in Squad 1/3 in the Boys Trios event after the first three-game block in the 20th European Youth Championships.

The Italians showed consistency with games of 640, 652 and 638 to lead the sixteen trios field with 1930 pinfall total and an average of 214.44. Tomatis led the team with 663 including 235 and 245, while Formisano had 638 and Radi 629.

2007EYCMillerJonesChamberlain.jpg England's Matt Miller, Andrew Jones and Matt Chamberlain started with high game of 714, followed by 588 and 611to sit in second place with 1913 or an average of 212.56.

Miller used a high game of 252 for the team-best 678 series. Jones was close behind at 665 and Chamberlain managed 570.

Fishler led the way with 650, while Cohen had three consistent 200-plus games to contribute 627. Alfital had 605 including a 233 in the second.

The next four teams are within 25 pins behind the Israelis. The Netherlands with Dwayne Van Zandwijk, Phill Hulst and Mario Otte sit in fourth place with 1875 (208.33) including Otte's 684 series, the highest individual three-game set in this squad.

Markus Häuser, Andre Schröder and Michael Koch from Germany are in fifth place, just one pin behind the Dutch with 1874 (208.22). Sixth place belongs to the host country of Greece, Vangelis Krizinis, Nikos Michas and George Venetis had games of 599, 650 and 622 for 1871 and an average of 207.89. Seventh place belongs to the Latvian trio Vladislavs Filimonovs, Arturs Nikolajevs and Arturs Levikins with 1850 (205.56).

2007EYCHutchinsonVorborgOleHutchinsonLarsen.jpg Lithuania with Dovydas Dusevicius, Kristijonas Sergejevas and Audrius Sabaliauskas is in eighth place at 1824 (202.67), with Hungary's David Kodmon, Zsolt Kiss and Gyorgy Bodis in ninth place at 1809 (201.00).

L-R Rounding out the top ten is Denmark with Paul Hutchinson, Anders Vorborg, coach Alan Hutchinson and Thomas Larsen, who combined for 648 in the last game to climb five spots into tenth place with 1775 (197.22).
