Bowling Team Bern climbs up ladder to win Baker Trophy

On the Easter weekend, the 4th Baker Trophy for 5-player teams - organized by Bowling Club Strangers - was held at bowling center BeSeCo in Zurich, Switzerland. The 4-team stepladder final was an all-Swiss affair.
Bowling Team Bern (pictured), seeded third, climbed up the ladder with three straight victories to win the 2005 trophy. In the opening match over two games total pinfall, Bern topped No. 4 seed Team Castel after two close games, 403-392. The semi-final against the Poco.Nami was a low-scoring affair. Trailing by 7 pins after game #1, Bern won the second game by 28 pins to advance to the finals, 355-334.
In the championship match Bern faced the BC Strangers Juniors (pictured), the sole team that averaged 200+ in the Peterson Finals and shot a perfect 300-game in Baker-style (against Team Castel). However, Bern took the first game, 167-153, and never looked back. The team flew past the Juniors in game #2, 212-149, to cruise to victory with 379-302, two game total.
