    Lucio Fiorani.jpg Lucio Fiorani of Switzerland rolled three consecutive high 2-game series en route to win the 29th Grand Prix Zurich at Bowling Center Beseco in Rümikon, Switzerland.

    Fiorani started the six-player knockout finals with games of 254 and 245 to easily advance to the Round of 4 with 499 pinfall total. The two players with the lowest scores were sidelined. Junior Pierre Endries, Germany, and Adi Maridas, Switzerland, managed sub-par series only and finished 5th and 6th respectively.

    Fiorani secured a spot in the title match with games of 222 and 225 (447). Göran Persson, a Swede who lives in Switzerland, survived the Round of 4 with 388. Jens Dengler of Germany (366) topped Theo Keel, Switzerland (365) by mere one pin to decide the battle for third and fourth place.

    Fiorani carried the momentum into the championship match. He rolled games of 232 and 213 to defeat Göran Persson (204-194), 445-398, en route to earn the title.

    Damir Branezac is another 63 pins behind in third place with 1258. Willy Rohner, all of Switzerland, led the third qualifying squad with 1253 pinfall total, good enough for fourth place. Gabriele Suchanek, Austria, is the best female bowler in the field in 13th place with 1217 including seven pins handicap each game.
