Jason Belmonte of Australia rolled 1316 to win the first gold medal of the 8th World Youth Championships in the boy's singles competition. A scoring correction Tuesday resulted in Junior Team USA's
David O'Sullivan earning the bronze medal in the boys singles event at the World Youth Championships in Guam. O'Sullivan, 19, pointed out himself that he had been inadvertently credited with six additional pins in his second game, which was lowered from 208 to 202. The score adjustment dropped his total to 1241 and into third place for the bronze medal. Ireland's
Paul Scott was awarded the silver for his 1246 total.
Yannaphon Larpapharat from Thailand and Junior Team USA's Jennifer Petrick earned the coveted Masters titles to conclude the 8th WTBA World Youth Championships at Central Lanes in Agana, Guam. Larpapharat defeated No. 1 seed Jason Belmonte, Australia, 415-392, in boys' finals over two games total pinfall. Jennifer Petrick topped teammate Stefanie Nation in the girls championship match, 414-404. Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong and Korea's Kang Hyun-Jin earned bronze. 
Overnight leader Finland captured the gold medal in the boys team event at the 8th World Youth Championships at Central Lanes in Agana, Guam. L-R Sami Tolonen, Joonas Huolman, Mikko Ylitalo and Osku Paalermaa felled 4979 pins and averaged 207,46 to win the title in the boys division. Malaysia was nine pins behind to earn the silver medal with Sweden further 112 pins behind to take the bronze medal. 
Swedes Robert Andersson and Mikael Kanold (r-l) averaged 216,58 on the long oil pattern to cruise to victory in the Boys doubles at the 8th World Youth Championships in Guam. Clay Herrbach (1269) and Patrick Haggerty (1279), USA, earned the silver medal with 2548 (212,33) and Japan's Isao Yamamoto (1313) and Toshihiko Takahashi (1182) grabbed bronze with 2495 (207,92).
