Giancarlo Ragusa of Belgium and Ireland's Kerena Dykes took over the lead in the men's and women's division in the Irish Open after the second day of qualifying featuring four squads Thursday at Leisureplex Stillorgan in Dublin, Ireland.

Ragusa (pictured left) had games of 240, 212, 246, 229, 278 and 264 to lead the 87-player men's field with 1469 and an average of 244.83. Ireland's Dave English and defending champion Barry Foley (right) moved into in second and third place with 1458 and 1449, respectively, followed by PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss (below left), who rolled the tournament's first 300 game in his 1436 series.

Dykes took a commanding lead in the 27-player women's division with 1416 total including games of 237, 258, 247, 223, 211 and 240. Sweden's Annie Thorell (right) is 98 pins behind in second place with 1318 including a 298 final game. Third place belongs to Amanda Larkin, Ireland, with 1293.

Qualifying continues Friday with Squads 5-8 scheduled to start at 8.30 a.m., 12.15, 4 and 7.45 p.m. local time (CET +1).

The 26th Storm Irish Open Tenpin Bowling Championships run from January 15-19 at 18-lane Leisureplex Stillorgan in Dublin, Ireland. Men and women bowl in separate division. The tournament offers total prize fund of 17.500 Euro. The men's champion receives the 4.000 Euro top prize, while the women's champion gets 1.000 Euro.

Qualifying (six games, unlimited re-entries) started on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and runs through Saturday, Jan. 18. Once all qualifying squads have been completed, 86 men and 23 women will qualify for the finals on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

The field will be trimmed to 16 men and 16 women, who will determine the champions in single-elimination match play over two games, total pin fall.
