Jolanda Visser, Eric Kok are the Dutch representatives at 50th QubicaAMF World Cup



    2014BWCNEDQJolandaVisserEricKok.jpgJolanda Visser (32) and Eric Kok (54) won the 2014 Dutch Bowling Tour which also serves as the qualifier in the Netherlands for the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup.

    The 50th edition of the World Cup will be contested November 1-9, 2014, at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. It will be Visser's first World Cup appearance, while Kok will participate for the 7th time in his career. The long-time national team member and former Dutch national coach participated in every decade since the 1970's.

    2014BWCNEDQEricKok.jpgIt all started in 1979 in Bangkok, Thailand, when Kok just missed the top 16, finishing 17th. One year later, he competed again in Jakarta, Indonesia. His best result came in 1985 in Seoul, Korea, where lost the final against Alfonso Rodriguez from Mexico, 206-193, to finish second.

    He also competed in the 25th edition in 1989 in Dublin, Ireland, in 1995 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and in 2005 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

    2014BWCNEDQJolandaVisser.jpgKok is looking forward to meet familiar faces, but although he says he left his "golden days" behind, when the conditions were in his favor and he was at the peak of his career. However, Kok thinks he can still compete with the best.

    Visser, who was on the Dutch women's national team which won the gold medal in the 2006 Women's European Championships, never participated in the World Cup before. The Dutch national champion lives in Germany isn't planning to go to Wroclaw to be a tourist. "Bowling is an unpredictable sport, anything can happen. My goal is to reach the top 24. Who's knows what happens next?"
